Meet The Digital Team!

It's a fact we're a digital community bank. But being digital doesn’t mean we’re just a bunch of lifeless AI algorithms! JN Bank UK is a bank of real people, that's why we feel it’s so important to let our customers know who's behind the screen. First up we have our Digital team, which may only be small, but they’re instrumental in the upkeep of many of the things you regularly use - such as our website. Let’s meet Duarte, Petrian and Lucy.

Duarte

Duarte is our Head of Digital. He was born in Lisbon, Portugal and moved to London a few years ago. And whilst most people will never understand why he would give up the sun and great food to move to London, he claims that he enjoys the London weather ‘quite a lot’!

He has been with the JN Group since 2019, however, many people don’t know that he’s also worked as an NFL commentator on TV. This gig stems from his love of American Football (‘Go Patriots’ as he would say).

Now this is where it starts to sound a bit like we’re setting up his online dating profile (we’re not, he’s happily married!) but he’s a movie and TV show buff, as well as an avid book buyer, even though he doesn’t actually read them all. His favourite film is everything-Star-Wars-related and Black Box Thinking by Matthew Syed is his current #1 favourite book. You’ll also often find him with a slice of pizza.

Duarte is the guy you’ll call in the middle of the night when your Google Chromecast isn’t working as it should – he’s all about tech and IT (and even studied it before Uni!). Maybe that’s why he takes care of all the Digital strategies. From paid media to Social, Google Ads or Analytics, as well as website content, design and customer journey improvements. Although there’s far more he does, we don’t want to bore anyone who’s not digitally minded.

Petrian

5-2Petrian is our Community Engagement, Promotions & Events Manager. Petrian has been living in the UK for 13 years, 11 of which working for JN Group! She is originally from Jamaica (again, why leave the beautiful weather behind!), and she studied at the University of the West Indies in Jamaica before doing her post graduate studies at Brunel University in London.

Petrian has a 5-year-old son. As all of us parents know, this means many of her weekend activities revolve around kids activities which is really sweet! When Petrian is not at a kid’s park, she’s at home baking, her love of baking stems from watching too much The Great British Bake Off!

Petrian also helps Digital but her main role is to engage with our Community by running events and creating programmes like the Local Charity Programme launched this year!

Lucy

7-2Finally, we have Lucy! She’s the newest member of the Digital team and joined us a year ago as the Digital Marketing Assistant. Lucy is from Newcastle, this means she has a Geordie accent, but don’t worry she won’t call you ‘pet’ or answer your questions with ‘whey aye man’.

Lucy started her career in Digital Marketing as an apprentice at only 17 years old. Since then, she’s continued in the Marketing field, both working and studying. She moved to Plymouth at 21 (unlike her colleagues Lucy was looking for more sun than the North East offered!) and moved back North in 2020.

If you asked Lucy what her hobbies were, she would tell you it’s compulsively online shopping, and spending far too much time on TikTok! But really she loves fashion and is trying to be more sustainable and understanding of the impact the fashion industry has on the world. And although her TikTok obsession is definitely out of hand, as someone working on social media she feels she can call it research, and that makes her feel much better about it.

Lucy’s job here at JN Bank UK is to report on our campaigns, create content (I’ll let you into a little secret; I’m the one writing this post), manage our social media platforms, and assist Duarte in many of his day-to-day tasks.

As you can see, although we’re all things digital, JN Bank UK has real, genuine people working every day to make your life easier whenever there’s a financial challenge ahead.

JN Bank UK

At JN Bank we understand the importance of treating everyone with compassion and respect. Because everyone has a story, our blog is part of ours as well as a place we can share other people's stories.
